GRADUATE EDUCATION & RESEARCH
Together in the journey of exploration through science led discovery.
MDRU accepts a limited number of graduate thesis-by-research MSc and PhD students to support our research projects. Our students have the opportunity to enroll in graduate courses at UBC, partake in specialized and practical short courses organized annually by MDRU, engage in field experiences, and acquire proficiency in state-of-the-art analytical methods. If you are considering becoming a graduate student or postdoctoral research fellow at MDRU, we kindly encourage you to explore our ongoing projects and areas of focus. This will assist you in identifying the specific domains where you would like to enhance your knowledge and skills.

MDRU STUDENT STORIES
"Studying at MDRU represents an extraordinary opportunity to learn from brilliant Geoscientists, get in touch with cutting-edge technology, and blend my Earth Science background with former data, electronics, and systems integration working experience. It is an exceptionally inspiring research environment where we truly have the potential to shape innovation in the mining industry for the coming years, and tackle the challenges the environment and human beings will have to handle."
"I chose to study here because the research projects perfectly fit my passions. Combine this with the world class mentorship of Shaun Barker, and the incredibly knowledgeable post docs that he has surrounded us with. This makes for a one of a kind learning environment."
"I choose MDRU to complete my master's because of its strong connection with the mining sector and the cutting-edge nature of all of its research initiatives. MDRU became my geological family throughout my stay here, a place where I could grow both personally and professionally."
