Geology, Geochemistry and Genesis of the Red Chris Porphyry Research Project
MDRU has a long history of research on the Red Chris high-grade alkalic Cu-Au research project, with a series of projects starting in the mid 1990’s. In our latest project, supported by Newcrest Mining Limited, we are undertaking a multi-faceted research project to describe the geology, alteration and mineralization of the Red Chris deposits, including the East Ridge, East Zone, Main Zone, and Gully Zone. The project involves field observations, whole rock geochemistry, petrography, geochronology and mineral chemistry to unravel controls on the grade and size of this world-class porphyry deposit, and identify new vectors towards mineralization. This project is led by MDRU postdoctoral researcher Brian McNulty.
